Chunk Bowl XIX
TWO TEAMS MAKING THEIR 2ND TRIP TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP! IN TWO VERY DIFFERENT WAYS (KINDA)!
Chunk Bowl XIX is a matchup between two teams making their 2nd trip to the Chunk Bowl Championship! For the #1 seed Project MJD, it has been a long road, making their 1st appearance in the Championship game since winning it all in 2010 in Chunk Bowl IV defeating South Amboy River Rats! That was also the only other time they went into the playoffs as the #1 seed. They're hoping that that is a good sign for this season's Championship! Can Project MJD stay undefeated in Chunk Bowl Championships?!? We shall see!
For the #2 Seed Auckland Volcanoes this is the 2nd consecutive trip and 3rd overall trip to the Chunk Bowl Championship. Last year they were not so lucky losing Chunk Bowl XVIII as the #1 seed last year to the #6 seed South Amboy River Rats! Their other Chunk Bowl loss was in Chunk Bowl XV when they themselves made it to the Chunk Bowl Championship as the #6 seed, but lost to the #4 seed Baritone Bullshitters! Is the 3rd time the charm for Auckland Volcanoes?
The head-to-head story for these two teams favors Project MJD. They have never met in the plaoyffs before but Project MJD holds a 9-4 record advantage over the Auckland franchise! With the top 2 seeds in this year's Championship though, it looks to be a great matchup this year!
2024 Championship
Chunk Bowl XVIII
6TH TIME A CHARM OR 2ND TIME A CHARM?!?!
Chunk Bowl XVIII is a matchup between two teams who have been on the losing end of 3 of the last 4 Chunk Bowl Championship Games. This year someone will get over the hump and win their first Chunk Bowl Championship! It's the #6 Seed South Amboy River Rats against the #1 seed Auckland Volcanoes!
For Auckland Volcanoes this is only the 2nd Chunk Bowl Championship appearance, as they lost their first attempt in Chunk Bowl XV to the #4 seed Baritone Bullshitters when they were the #6 seed. This year they look to win their first ever Chunk Bowl Championship as the heavy favorite as the #1 seed.
For South Amboy River Rats it has been an 18-year history of success and frustration losing their 5 previous Chunk Bowl Championship appearances over that time, losing in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2020, and 2022! 2008 & 2020 they lost to Tampa Bay Junkyard, in 2010 they lost to Project MJD, in 2012 they lost to Long Branch Nightmare (Shawty Shipping today), and in 2022 they lost to Frederick Failure (now Colorado Lions, same owner). It is quite a feat to make it to 5 championships, but I can imagine it is extremely frustrating to not win any of them. Will the 6th time be a charm?
Head-to-head, South Amboy River Rats has a huge advantage with an 11-3 overall record over Auckland Volcanoes. This is the first time either of these two teams have met each other in the playoffs and it just so happens to happen in the Championship game. The two teams did meet late in the season in Week 12 where Auckland Volcanoes won the matchup with a score of 80-58.
The only thing that is certain this year is that 1 of these 2 franchises is going to get their first ever Chunk Bowl Championship after 18 years! Amazing!
2023 Championship
Chunk Bowl XVII
FOR THE 2ND YEAR IN A ROW, A FIRST TIME CHUNK BOWL CHAMPION WILL BE CROWNED!!
Chunk Bowl XVII pits two franchises that have never won a championship yet in the entire 17 seasons in the league so this is going to be a huge victory for whoever takes the title.
For Lakeland Brewers, the history of the team was pretty unstable, going through 4 different owners from 2007 to 2014. Not until the team was taken over by it's current owner Joe in 2015 did the team have stable ownership and although there were some rough seasons, the team has generally performed better than before that time. However, despite that, the Brewers have only one playoff appearance since 2015 and only 2 previous playoff appearances overall. Finishing 14 of 16 teams last season, this will truly be a Cinderella Story if Lakeland can pull off the Chunk Bowl victory here!
For Brooklyn Blitzkrieg it's been quite the opposite. Vinnie has been one of the few individual owners in the league since the league's inaugural season in 2007 and has had multiple playoff appearances through the years but, in the 17 years in this league, this is only Brooklyn's 2nd overall Chunk Bowl appearance with the first coming in 2009, only the 3rd season of Chunk Bowl's existence, where they lost the Championship to another team with an owner who is still with us from the beginning, Project MJD. With Blitzkrieg's Chunk Bowl appearance coming 14 years ago, you know they want this Championship badly!
Two teams with very short Championship histories in the league are very hungry for a Championship! They don't know when their next opportunity for another Chunk Bowl is going to come along so you know they don't want to squander this opportunity!

2022 Championship
Chunk Bowl XVI
AFTER A 1 YEAR BREAK FROM THE CHAMPIONSHIP SOUTH AMBOY RIVER RATS ARE BACK IN THE SHIP!! FREDERICK FAILURE IS BACK AFTER A 4 YEARS!!
Neither team has won the Chunk Bowl yet so one of these teams will finally win a Chunk Bowl after losing all of their previous trips to the Ships!!
South Amboy River Rats is 0-4 in Chunk Bowl Championship Games in 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2020 while Frederick Failure lost their only appearance in the big hasgame in 2018!!
These two teams faced off in Week 8 with Failure succeeding in getting the 83-32 victory! Regular season history has Rats with a 9-2 advantage however Failure has won the only two playoff match-ups between these two teams, in 2013 and 2018 both in the Wild Card round.
Could trip #5 finally be it for South Amboy River Rats or is Frederick Failure going to cut the line and deny them yet again?

2021 Championship
Chunk Bowl XV
A NEW CHAMPION TO BE CROWNED IN 2021!!!
Chunk Bowl XV has the #6 Seed Wild Card Auckland Volcanoes vs. The Deuce Division Champions and #4 Seed Baritone Bullshitters.
For Auckland Volcanoes, the journey to the Championship game has been a long one as this is the 1st time this team has made it to the playoffs since the initial season of 2007 and 2 Toilet Bowl Championships in 2011 and 2013 during this team's Jersey Shore Hitmen days along the way. It makes this is an incredible run for a team full of struggles in its history. They would certainly like to top it off with their 1st Chunk Bowl Championship.
For Baritone Bullshitters it's been quite the opposite, 6 Division Championships, 5 Chunk Bowl Championship appearances now, with a 2-2 Record in the previous 4 appearances. When the team was named Hoboken Hobos, they were 1-1 in the Chunk Bowl winning in 2013 and losing in 2011. The team was then renamed to Ocean Township Outlaws and started off with a repeat championship in 2014. 2 Championships in 2 years under 2 different names. And finally, in the teams 2nd season as the Bullshitters in 2017, they had one last Chunk Bowl appearance before this one but lost that one as well. So this team is looking for their 3rd championship under a 3rd name, and 1st championship victory since 2014.
It is the same story when looking at the head to head records between these 2 teams. Baritone Bullshitters enjoys a heavy advantage over Auckland Volcanoes in the lifetime records with a 9-2 record and a 4 game winning streak that began in 2016. Last time Auckland Volcanoes defeated Baritone Bullshitters was in week 8 of 2014 when Jersey Shore Hitmen (Auckland) defeated Ocean Township Outlaws (Baritone) 79-66. A win from Auckland Volcanoes in this championship would be 7 years in the making but the heavy favorite is Baritone in this one. Can David beat Goliath? In 2021, anything is possible and with the new 2 week championship, could it actually help the underdog? We shall see.

Chunk Bowl 2020 is set pitting the #1 seed South Amboy River Rats against the #3 seed Tampa Bay Junkyard.
CHUNK BOWL II REMATCH 12 YEARS LATER!!
This is South Amboy River Rat's 4th Chunk Bowl Appearance. He has never won the Chunk Bowl Championship. This is a well decorated team with 9 Division Championships and 10 playoffs appearances in 14 seasons. His last championship appearance was 2012. He will definitely be looking to top it all off with that 1st elusive Chunk Bowl Championship
This is Tampa Bay Junkyard's 3rd Chunk Bowl appearance, winning both with the latest Championship coming in 2015 in Chunk Bowl IX. Also, a well decorated team, with 6 divison championships, 7 playoff appearances, and the 2 previously mentioned titles. The Junkyard is looking to be only 1 of 2 teams with at least 3 Chunk Bowl Championships.

Tampa Bay Junkyard & South Amboy River Rats are two of the 5 teams that have been in the league since Chunk Bowl I and, through all that time, is only the 2nd time they have met in the playoffs ever. Chunk Bowl II and Chunk Bowl XIV. The regular season matchups through the years have been pretty even with South Amboy River Rats having a slight advantage with a 7-5-1 regular season record vs The Junkyard. 7-6-1 with the Chunk Bowl II game included. The current streak is South Amboy River Rats with a 2 game winning streak which began in 2019.
